Unfair Commercial Practices Directive, Chapter 2, Section 1, Article 6 , Unfair Commercial Practices Directive, Annex I

The guidelines provide explanations on the protection of consumers’ economic interests and the requirements of consumer protection laws in respect to online games intended for children. The guidelines are intended for traders and include many examples of possible infringements. Furthermore, the guidelines, also review the concept of aggressive commercial practice directed towards children, explain the requirements for mandatory information, as well as give advice on how to correctly implement micro-payments in games.

These guidelines are partly based on the “Principles for online and app-based games” created by United Kingdom’s Office of Fair Trading. Please note that some of the legal provisions or their numbering cited in the guideines may have changed!
