    The author describes the concept of the full harmonization of consumer protection law. The Unfair Commercial Practices Directive is the starting point to consider the growing role of full harmonization clauses in achieving the purposes of the single market with high standards of consumer protection.

    The author analyses the implementation techniques in several member states and describes the challenges related to achieving uniformity in the application of the Directive.

    The article also describes significant judgments of the European Court of Justice concerning the interpretation of Directive 2005/29/EC and presents conclusions about the requirement for full harmonization.
