    This article discusses and addresses the five defences available to traders who are subject to criminal proceedings under the Irish Consumer Protection Act. The article recommends that it is prudent for traders, especially large companies, to have compliance programmes which educate their employees in the fundamentals of the Irish Consumer Protection Actas it relates to the activities of their companies.
