This comment analyses the judgment by which the CJEU resolves a preliminary ruling raised by the Belgian courts concerning the interpretation of the concept of advertising within the meaning of Directive 84/450/EEC and Directive 2006/114/EC. The Tribunal argues that the concept of advertising covers the use of a domain name and that of hypertext indicators in the metadata of an Internet site. However, this concept does not include the registration, as such, of a domain name.
