The Directorate for Investigation of Organised Crime and Terrorist Offences of the Public Ministry is specialised in investigating organised crime and terrorism related offences and through the public prosecutor provides services for the victims of crime.

  • has both a central and a local structure; there are 15 services, organised at the level of prosecutor’s offices attached to court of appeals and 27 offices, organised at the level of prosecutor’s office attached to tribunals
  • is specialised in investigating organised crime and terrorism related offences
  • through the public prosecutor provides services for victims of crime: informs victims about their rights, investigates the crime, allow for measures of protection if necessary, represents victims’ interests in courts etc.

National Agency against Trafficking in Persons

The National Agency against Trafficking in Persons is the central point in dealing with trafficking with persons, sets up and sustains the help line available around the clock and informs the relevant bodies about possible cases of trafficking in human beings.

  • is subordinated to the Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reform
  • is organised as a central authority (formed by several departments – human resources and public relations, research, prevention, international cooperation, legal assistance, accountancy and IT) and regional centres set up in each county which has an Appeal Court
  • is the central point in dealing with trafficking with persons and coordinates all other institutions working in this area
  • sets up and sustains the help line available around the clock
  • informs the relevant bodies about possible cases of trafficking in human beings
  • provides assistance for victims through the 15 regional centres

The National Agency for Employment coordinates employment and professional training, applies measures for social protection for unemployed and institutionalises the social dialogue in professional training for victims of trafficking and persons with high risk of victimisation.
